A focus on Brazil. A commitment beyond it.
Education creates opportunities. Our giving will support communities with fewer resources to access them, with 80% of our donation funds directed to initiatives in Brazil and 20% to initiatives elsewhere in the world.

The 80/20 split applies to the 10% of profits we set aside for giving. It is not a percentage of each subscription payment.
WHY BRAZIL?
A personal connection. A lasting commitment.
Our founders created Fluent by Ear from their experience learning Portuguese in Brazil, using everything from verb exercises to hours of listening. Listening and speaking made the biggest difference, especially through everyday conversations with communities in northern Brazil and Rio de Janeiro.
Quick-fire apps work well for many learners, but our founders wanted a different approach: listening and speaking at the center, flashcards to help new words stick, and verb conjugations they could explore in depth.
Bringing those pieces together took time. Fluent by Ear was created to share that approach with other learners, making those tools available in one place.
That connection to Brazil is also why 80% of our education donations will go to Brazil. Our local presence helps us stay close to the communities these funds will support and build lasting relationships across the country.

After each year ends, we will publish a report here showing where the funds went and who received them. Each report will include:
How much we gave
The total donated and how we calculated the 10% of profits for that year.
Who received it
The recipients, the amounts sent to each, and where they work, including the split between Brazil and the rest of the world.
What it supports
The education initiatives the funds were sent to support, with updates on their use where available.
