  1. Present and future

    しお を とる から、 ちょっと まって。

    I'll grab the salt, hang on.

  2. Past

    きのう、 やっと やすみ を とりました。

    Yesterday I finally took a day off.

  3. Te-form

    その ペン を とって くれる?

    Can you pass me that pen?

  4. Potential

    らいしゅう、 きゅうか が とれます か?

    Can you take leave next week?

  5. Want to

    ちかい うち に めんきょ を とりたい。

    I want to get a licence soon.

  6. Volitional

    まど の ちかく の せき を とりましょう。

    Let's take the seats by the window.

  • とる is to take or pick up; やすみ を とる is to take time off, めんきょ を とる to get a licence.
