How to use のこる

One sentence for each tense, the way people say it.

  1. Present and future

    きょう は おそく まで かいしゃ に のこります。

    Today I'll stay late at the office.

  2. Past

    カレー が すこし のこりました。

    There's a little curry left.

  3. Te-form

    まだ ゆき が のこって います ね。

    There's still snow left, isn't there.

  4. Potential

    あした まで ここ に のこれます か。

    Can you stay here until tomorrow?

  5. Want to

    もう すこし にほん に のこりたい です。

    I want to stay in Japan a bit longer.

  6. Volitional

    みんな が かえって も、 ぼく は のころう。

    Even if everyone leaves, I'll stay.

  7. Conditional

    ごはん が のこったら、 れいぞうこ に いれて ください。

    If there's rice left, please put it in the fridge.
