How to use さがる

One sentence for each tense, the way people say it.

  1. Present and future

    よる は きおん が かなり さがります。

    At night the temperature drops quite a lot.

  2. Past

    くすり を のんだら、 ねつ が さがった。

    After I took the medicine, my fever went down.

  3. Te-form

    きいろい せん まで さがって ください。

    Please step back behind the yellow line.

  4. Potential

    もう すこし うしろ に さがれます か。

    Can you step back a little more?

  5. Want to

    ステージ の まえ は こわい から、 うしろ に さがりたい。

    The front of the stage is scary, so I want to move back.

  6. Volitional

    あぶない から、 もう すこし さがろう。

    It's dangerous, so let's step back a bit.

  7. Conditional

    ねだん が さがれば、 かいます。

Good to know

  • さがる is what goes down by itself: the temperature, a price, a fever; さげる is to lower something.
  • さがって ください is also "please step back", on a platform or at a counter.
