How to use はく

One sentence for each tense, the way people say it.

  1. Present and future

    しごと の ひ は くろい くつ を はきます。

    On work days I wear black shoes.

  2. Past

    きょう は あたらしい ジーンズ を はいた。

    Today I put on new jeans.

  3. Te-form

    スリッパ を はいて ください。

    Please put on the slippers.

  4. Potential

    あし が はれて、 くつ が はけません。

    My foot's swollen and I can't get my shoe on.

  5. Want to

    なつ は サンダル を はきたい。

    In summer I want to wear sandals.

  6. Volitional

    さむい から、 あつい くつした を はこう。

    It's cold, let's wear thick socks.

  7. Conditional

    この くつ を はけば、 あし が いたく ない。

    If you wear these shoes, your feet won't hurt.

  8. Commands and requests

    いえ の なか で くつ を はかないで ください。

    Please don't wear shoes inside the house.

  9. Passive and causative

    あめ だ から、 こども に ながぐつ を はかせました。

    It was raining, so I put the children in wellies.
