  2. Past

    Lamentamos no haber ido a la boda.

    We regretted not going to the wedding.

  3. Imperfect

    Siempre lamentaba no haber estudiado música.

    He always regretted not having studied music.

  4. Future

    Si no vienes, lo lamentarás toda la vida.

    If you don't come, you'll regret it all your life.

  5. Conditional

    Lamentaría mucho perderte como amiga.

    I'd really hate to lose you as a friend.

  6. Present subjunctive

    Espero que no lamentes haber vendido la casa.

    I hope you don't regret having sold the house.

  7. Past subjunctive

    No quería que mi hija lamentara esa decisión.

    I didn't want my daughter to regret that decision.

  8. Imperative

    Lamenta lo que quieras, pero paga la multa.

    Regret all you like, but pay the fine.

Good to know

  • "Lo lamento" is a formal "I'm sorry"; between friends "lo siento" is the everyday one. "Lamentar que" takes the subjunctive.
