Emma arrives in Paris and rings the bell of her hotel.

At the desk of the hotel, Julien asks Emma where she's from and whether she speaks French, and one of his questions is much too fast for her.

Emma and Chloe have half an hour at the station cafe before the train to Lyon, and they almost miss it.

On the fast train to Lyon, Emma and Chloe get to know each other, and Emma finds out why Julien is always tired.

In Lyon, Chloe walks Emma to a small guesthouse near the station, and Emma asks for a room on her own, in French.

On Sunday morning, after breakfast at the guesthouse, Chloe takes Emma to the market by the river, where a loud seller wants everyone to taste his strawberries.

Chloe's secret plan is lunch at her parents' house on the hill above Lyon, and Emma brings the strawberries.

Lunch at Chloe's parents' goes on for hours, and the family asks about Emma's family in Chicago.

Emma wakes up on Monday with a cold, and Chloe is at work, so she goes to the pharmacy on her own.

Emma is better, but Lyon is grey and wet, so she and Chloe spend the afternoon in a cafe, talking about what they like.

Lyon wins the match, and on the walk home along the river Chloe says she has to go back to work, so Emma makes a plan of her own, to see the sea at Marseille.

In Marseille, Emma walks down to the old port, and Hugo, who takes people kayaking along the coast, talks her into a trip.

That same Friday evening, Hugo takes Emma and the Dutch couple from the kayak trip to dinner by the old port.

On Saturday morning Hugo meets Emma at the old port to show her Marseille, but Chloe's birthday is coming, so they start at the market.

On Sunday Chloe comes down from Lyon, and she and Emma take the boat to the islands, where Emma gives her the blue hat.

On Tuesday Chloe calls Emma from the hospital in Lyon with news, and the line on the rocks above the beach keeps cutting out.

It's Saturday, Emma's birthday.

On Monday, Hugo asks Emma when she is leaving.

On Tuesday evening, Emma thanks Hugo above the city, keeps their dinner date by the sea, and calls Chloe in Lyon.

After the coffee she promised Hugo, Emma reaches the station and decides to stay in France.
