How to use رَاح

One sentence for each tense, the way people say it.

  1. Present

    بَرُوح الشُّغْل بِالمِتْرُو كُلّ يُوم.

    I go to work by metro every day.

  2. Past

    رُحْت إِسْكِنْدِرِيَّة الأُسْبُوع اللِّي فَات.

    I went to Alexandria last week.

  3. Future

    هَنْرُوح عَنْد تِيتَة يُوم الجُمْعَة.

    We'll go to Grandma's on Friday.

  4. After want, must and can

    لاَزِم أَرُوح المَطَار السَّاعَة سِتَّة.

    I have to go to the airport at six.

  5. Commands

    رُوح نَام, إِنْتَ تَعْبَان.

    Go to sleep, you're tired.

Good to know

  • رَايِح, going, is how Egyptians say they are on their way: أَنَا رَايِح الشُّغْل; a woman says رَايْحَة.
