How to use おくれる

One sentence for each tense, the way people say it.

  1. Present and future

    すみません、 でんしゃ が じゅっぷん おくれます。

    Sorry, the train is ten minutes late.

  2. Past

    でんしゃ が おくれて、 かいぎ に おくれた。

    The train was late, so I was late for the meeting.

  3. Te-form

    ベン さん は いつも ごふん おくれて きます。

    Ben always comes five minutes late.

  4. Potential

    あした の めんせつ に は おくれられない。

    I can't be late for tomorrow's interview.

  5. Want to

    けっこんしき に は おくれたくない です。

    I don't want to be late for the wedding.

  6. Volitional

    パーティー に は わざと すこし おくれよう。

    Let's turn up to the party a little late on purpose.
