  2. Past

    ころんで、 あたま を うった。

    I fell and banged my head.

  3. Te-form

    メール を うって いる から、 ちょっと まって。

    I'm typing a message, hang on a second.

  4. Potential

    みないで キーボード が うてます か。

    Can you type without looking?

  5. Want to

    いちど で いい から、 ホームラン を うちたい。

    Just once, I want to hit a home run.

  6. Volitional

    へんじ の メール を、 いま うとう。

    Let me type the reply now.

  7. Conditional

    ここ を うてば、 ボール は とおく まで とびます。

    If you hit it here, the ball flies far.

  8. Commands and requests

    かべ に あたま を うたないで ね。 ひくい から。

    Don't bang your head on the wall. It's low.

  9. Passive and causative

  • キーボード を うつ is to type, メール を うつ to type a message; ボール を うつ is to hit a ball.
  • あたま を うつ is to bang your head, and ちゅうしゃ を うつ to give an injection.
