    The neighbours chat in the square until late.

  2. Past

    Charlamos un rato con el camarero sobre fútbol.

    We chatted for a while with the waiter about football.

  3. Imperfect

    Mi abuela charlaba con todo el mundo en el mercado.

    My grandmother chatted with everyone at the market.

  4. Future

    Charlaremos con calma cuando vuelvas de Japón.

    We'll have a proper chat when you're back from Japan.

  5. Conditional

    Charlaría contigo toda la noche, pero mañana madrugo.

    I'd chat with you all night, but I'm up early tomorrow.

  6. Present subjunctive

    Prefiero que charlemos fuera, aquí hay mucho ruido.

    I'd rather we chat outside, it's very noisy here.

  7. Past subjunctive

    La profesora no quería que charláramos en clase.

    The teacher didn't want us chatting in class.

  8. Imperative

    ¡Charla un rato con tu abuela, que está sola!

    Chat with your grandmother for a while, she's on her own!

  • "Echar una charla" is to have a chat; "una charla" is also a talk, as in a lecture.
