PART 1 · LESSON 4 OF 30 · 31 MINUTES
Shall We Say Tu?
On Monday morning the pasta course begins. Matteo makes coffee, still with the polite you, and Chiara, a new student from Lecce, arrives late, says the friendly you from her first word and laughs at Laura and Matteo. Then Signora Ada teaches flour and eggs, and says well done to someone else. Offer and order a coffee, ask someone's name and say yours, and agree to use the friendly you.

THE STORY
It's Monday morning, a quarter to nine, the first day of the pasta course. Laura is in the kitchen early, with her own apron, and Matteo is making coffee. A new student arrives late, and laughs at the way Laura and Matteo talk to each other. Then Signora Ada begins. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
