    The thief ran away through the back door.

  3. Te-form

    じしん の とき は、 すぐ そと に にげて ください。

    In an earthquake, please get outside straight away.

  4. Potential

    この もんだい から は にげられません。

    You can't run from this problem.

  5. Want to

    しごと が いや で、 どこか へ にげたい。

    I hate my job and want to run away somewhere.

  • から にげる is to run from something: いぬ から にげる.
  • にげられた, the passive, says it got away from you and you're sorry about it.
