How to use そつぎょう する

One sentence for each tense, the way people say it.

    My son graduates from high school next March.

  2. Past

    ことし だいがく を そつぎょう した。

    I graduated from university this year.

  3. Te-form

    かのじょ は もう そつぎょう して いる。

    She's already graduated.

  4. Potential

    たんい が たりなくて、 そつぎょう できない かも しれない。

    I'm short of credits; I might not be able to graduate.

    よねん で そつぎょう したい。

Good to know

  • そつぎょう takes を for the school: だいがく を そつぎょう する; the opposite is にゅうがく する.
  • Nobody is graduated by someone else, so the passive sentence uses the causative, a teacher getting a student through.
