How to use want

  1. Present

    I want a table by the window, please.

    Eu quero uma mesa perto da janela, por favor.

  2. Past

    She wanted to be a doctor as a child.

    Ela queria ser médica quando criança.

  3. Future

    You will want a jacket, it's cold outside.

    Você vai querer um casaco, está frio lá fora.

  4. Present continuous

    She is wanting to move closer to work.

    Ela está querendo se mudar para mais perto do trabalho.

  5. Present perfect

    I have wanted this bike for years.

    Eu quero essa bicicleta há anos.

  6. Conditional

    Would you want some help with those bags?

    Você quer uma ajuda com essas sacolas?

  7. Imperative

    Want it enough, and you will get it.

    Queira de verdade, e você vai conseguir.

Good to know

  • "Want to" + verbo: "I want to go"; na fala vira "wanna".
  • Na fala, "want" raramente vai no continuous: diga "I want a coffee", não "I am wanting".
