    Every morning I take the Yamanote line.

  2. Past

    はじめて しんかんせん に のりました。

    I rode the Shinkansen for the first time.

  3. Te-form

    この バス に のって、 さんばん め で おりて ください。

    Take this bus and get off at the third stop.

  4. Potential

    この きっぷ で ちかてつ に のれます か。

    Can I take the subway with this ticket?

  5. Want to

    いちど ふね に のりたい です。

    I'd like to take a boat once.

  6. Volitional

    こんで いる から、 タクシー に のろう。

    It's crowded, let's take a taxi.

  7. Conditional

    きゅうこう に のれば、 さんじゅっぷん で つきます。

    If you take the express, you'll be there in thirty minutes.

  8. Commands and requests

    はやく のりなさい。 ドア が しまる よ。

    Get on quickly. The doors are closing.
