On Saturday afternoon, Emma has her first haircut in France, at the little hairdresser's on her street. Ask to get your hair cut, say how much and not too short, talk about the fringe, the colour and a wash, chat in the chair, and say whether you like it with "ça me plaît". That evening, her mother sees the new haircut on a video call.

LA HISTORIA
It is Saturday October 10, 2026, Emma's mother's birthday. In the spring, Chloe cut Emma's fringe in her kitchen, and since then Emma has put off the hairdresser's, because explaining a haircut in French seemed harder than French paperwork. This afternoon, she's finally sitting in front of a big mirror at the little hairdresser's on her street. That evening, she calls her mother in Chicago on her computer.
