The New One
Max's first day at Radio Linden. He gets past the man at the gate without a pass, hears a warning from the head of the English service, and meets Nina, the sound technician of Studio 2, who answers his English in German. Say you're new here and that you work here, say you haven't got a pass, ask what someone does for a living and say your job, as a man or a woman, say it's on the third floor, say you don't speak English, and use the friendly you at work.

It's Monday, a quarter to nine, and Max starts work at Radio Linden, in an old brick factory by the river. First there's the man at the gate, who wants a pass Max hasn't got. On the third floor, the head of the English service has a warning for him, and in Studio 2 the sound technician has something to tell him. At seven, the first programme goes out, with Max behind the glass. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
