PART 1 · LESSON 3 OF 30 · 30 MINUTES
The Test
It's Friday morning, breakfast under the plum tree in Auntie Ma's courtyard, and her good morning is a question. Owen points at what he doesn't know, has two steamed buns and eats until he's full. Then Lan comes by on her way to work, with a message from her grandfather, and it's a test. Say good morning the Chinese way, ask what this or that is, say what you'd like, say it's delicious and you're full, and tell someone to buy it themselves.

It's Friday, half past seven in the morning, and breakfast is on the table under the plum tree in Auntie Ma's courtyard. Overnight, something has changed in the way she talks to Owen. Then Lan comes by on her way to work, with a message from her grandfather, and this one is a test. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
