PART 1 · LESSON 5 OF 30 · 30 MINUTES
Beef Noodles
It's Friday lunchtime, and Owen is hungry. In a little noodle shop in a lane, with the menu on the wall in characters, he orders beef noodles without chili and a basket of soup dumplings, asks how much it is, gets forty and fourteen the wrong way round, and pays by scanning the shop's code. Call a shopkeeper boss, order a bowl or a basket of something, ask if it's spicy, ask how much it is, say the numbers from ten to ninety-nine, and pay by phone.

THE STORY
It's Friday, half past twelve, and Owen is hungry. Down a narrow lane there's a noodle shop with six tables, and the menu is on the wall, all in characters. The owner shouts every order to the kitchen, and to pay, Owen will need numbers bigger than nine. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
