PART 1 · LESSON 6 OF 30 · 30 MINUTES
The Broken Bridge
It's Friday afternoon by West Lake, and Owen goes looking for the Broken Bridge. A woman walking with her grandson shows him the way, he turns right instead of left, and ends up lost in the middle of the lake. Lan calls, and laughs at his photo. At sunset he gets there, asks for a picture, and takes a taxi home. Stop someone politely and ask where something is, understand straight ahead, left and right, near and far, say you're lost and you don't know, ask someone to take your picture, talk about the weather, and tell a taxi driver where you're going.

THE STORY
It's Friday afternoon by West Lake. Willows along the water, a cool wind, and retired couples dancing with fans. Owen wants to see the Broken Bridge, and to find it, he'll have to ask the way, in Chinese. He'll get lost, too. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
