How to use ひやす

One sentence for each tense, the way people say it.

  1. Present and future

    ビール は れいぞうこ で ひやします。

    I chill the beer in the fridge.

  2. Past

    スイカ を かわ の みず で ひやした。

    We chilled the watermelon in the river water.

  3. Te-form

    ねつ が ある から、 あたま を ひやして。

    You've got a fever, so cool your head.

  4. Potential

    この れいぞうこ、 ちいさくて ぜんぶ ひやせない。

    This fridge is so small I can't chill everything.

  5. Want to

    あつい。 なにか つめたい もの で からだ を ひやしたい。

    It's hot. I want to cool down with something cold.

  6. Volitional

    みんな が くる まえ に ジュース を ひやそう。

    Let's chill the juice before everyone comes.

  7. Conditional

    ひやせば、 はれ は ひく よ。

    If you cool it, the swelling will go down.
