How to use まにあう

    ごじ の かいぎ に まにあいます か。

    Will you make the five o'clock meeting?

  2. Past

    ぎりぎり で ひこうき に まにあいました。

    I made the plane just in time.

  3. Te-form

    まにあって、 ほんとう に よかった です。

    I'm so glad we made it.

  4. Potential

    はしれば、 まだ まにあう かもしれません。

    If we run, we might still make it.

  5. Want to

    むすめ の はっぴょうかい に まにあいたい。

    I want to be in time for my daughter's recital.

  6. Volitional

    まにあう よう に、 すこし はやく でよう。

    Let's leave a little early so we're in time.

  7. Conditional

    まにあわなかったら、 つぎ の でんしゃ で いきます。

    If we don't make it, we'll take the next train.

Good to know

  • What you are in time for takes に: でんしゃ に まにあいました.
  • まにあう already says you can make it, so the potential, volitional and imperative sentences show it beside another verb.
