  3. Te-form

    もう じゅうじ を すぎて いる よ。

    It's already past ten.

  4. Potential

    この ねだん で は、 たべすぎられない ね。

    At this price, you can't even overeat.

  5. Want to

    ことし は もう はたらきすぎたくない。

    This year I don't want to overwork any more.

  6. Volitional

    どんな に じかん が すぎよう と、 わすれない。

    No matter how much time passes, I won't forget.

  • すぎる goes on a verb stem or an adjective: たべすぎる, たかすぎる. On its own, time or a place passes: じゅうじ を すぎる.
