  2. Past

    ちち は きょねん たばこ を やめました。

    My father gave up smoking last year.

  3. Te-form

    ベン は アルバイト を やめて、 かいしゃ に はいった。

    Ben quit his part-time job and joined a company.

  4. Potential

    あまい もの が やめられません。

    I can't give up sweet things.

  5. Want to

    よる の おやつ を やめたい。

    I want to stop my late-night snacks.

  6. Volitional

    もう おそい から、 きょう は やめましょう。

    It's late, so let's stop for today.
