Portugais du Brésil

Daniel lands in Rio, and Carla is waiting for him at the airport.

In the taxi from the airport, Carla asks Daniel where he's from and whether he speaks Portuguese, and one of her questions is much too fast for him.

Carla opens the door of the apartment, and Daniel sees his room, the bathroom and his key for the first time.

Daniel's first morning in Rio.

Daniel's second morning in Rio, and this time he pays for breakfast, with money he has never used before.

Daniel meets Seu Jorge, the doorman of the building, and they talk about the weather.

Daniel wakes up late with an empty stomach, and there's nothing to eat in the kitchen.

Daniel goes for a walk on his own and can't find his way back.

After getting lost, Daniel buys a chip for his phone, and everyone at Rafael's coffee shop wants his new number.

Daniel has been in Rio for a week.

Daniel finally goes to the beach, and not the little one at the end of his street.

At Copacabana, Daniel runs into Bia, and she introduces a friend he has already met.

On the sand at Copacabana, a man comes along selling coconut water, and Daniel thinks the price is too high.

Still at the beach, Daniel asks Bia the time and finds out he is late to meet Rafael.

At eight in the morning, Carla takes Daniel to the street market and lets him do the talking.

It's Sunday, and Daniel finally meets Dona Lucia in person, at her house, for lunch.

Sunday lunch goes on, and Dona Lucia wants to know everything about Daniel's family, and then about her own children, who aren't married.

The day after Sunday lunch, Daniel wakes up with a headache and goes to the pharmacy on the corner.

It's raining in Rio for the first time since Daniel arrived, so Bia's coffee turns into a whole afternoon indoors.

The rain has stopped, and before she goes home, Bia invites Daniel to a party at Luana's house on Saturday.

The party was a success, and to say thank you, Daniel takes Bia out to dinner at a restaurant near the beach.

There's a big football match on TV at the coffee shop, Rafael takes it very seriously, and at half time Bia walks in wearing the other team's shirt.

Daniel wants to thank Dona Lucia for the family lunch.

With a week left in Brazil, Daniel takes a day trip on his own, to the old mountain town of Petropolis.

Daniel gets home late from his day trip, and Carla has waited up to hear all about it.

Daniel's phone rings on a noisy street.

It's Friday, and Daniel goes to Bia's birthday party on the roof of her building.

Daniel has three days left in Rio, and over breakfast Rafael asks about his plans.

It's Daniel's last night in Rio.

It's Saturday, Daniel's last day.
