PART 1 · LESSON 8 OF 30 · 31 MINUTES
Sunday
It's Sunday in Berlin, and almost everything is shut. Max goes out for milk, disturbs the man across the courtyard, haggles for a radio at the flea market, and has coffee and cake at Frau Weber's kitchen table. Say it's Sunday and everything's shut, understand what you mustn't do on a Sunday, ask how much something is and haggle, offer a piece of cake and say yes please, with cream, say it was delicious, and say someone isn't angry.

THE STORY
It's nine o'clock on Sunday morning, and there's no milk for Max's coffee. But in Berlin, on a Sunday, almost everything is shut. At ten, a crash of bottles in the courtyard brings an old man to his window. At eleven, Lukas takes Max to the flea market, where a broken radio has a price, and at three there's coffee and cake at Frau Weber's kitchen table, with milk from a neighbour Max didn't expect. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
