  2. Simple past

    Wir brauchten zwei Stunden bis zum Flughafen.

    It took us two hours to get to the airport.

  3. Perfect

    Hast du den Regenschirm gebraucht?

    Did you need the umbrella?

  4. Future

    Du wirst morgen warme Schuhe brauchen.

    You'll need warm shoes tomorrow.

  5. Conditional

    Ich würde ein Zimmer für zwei Nächte brauchen.

    I'd need a room for two nights.

  6. Imperative

    Brauch bitte nicht so viel Papier für die Notizen.

    Please don't use so much paper for the notes.

Good to know

  • Brauchen takes the thing directly: ich brauche Hilfe, ich brauche ein Ticket.
  • Nicht brauchen zu is not to have to: du brauchst nicht zu kommen.
