How to use あたる

  1. Present and future

    てんきよほう は あまり あたりません。

    The weather forecast isn't often right.

  2. Past

    ベン の よそう が あたった。

    Ben's prediction came true.

  3. Te-form

    おみくじ の とおり、 ぜんぶ あたって いる。

    Just like the fortune said, it's all coming true.

  4. Potential

    そんな よそう、 あたれる わけ が ない。

    There's no way a guess like that can be right.

  5. Want to

    いちど で いい から、 たからくじ に あたりたい。

    Just once, I'd like to win the lottery.

  6. Volitional

    あたろう が はずれよう が、 おみくじ は たのしい。

    Right or wrong, fortune slips are fun.

  7. Conditional

    あたれば、 しょうひん が もらえる。
