How to use きえる

Good to know

  • きえる is for what goes out or disappears by itself: a light, a fire, a stain, a person from view; けす is to put it out.
  • Going out is not something anyone does on purpose, so the potential and volitional sentences stretch きえる a little, and the passive shows it beside another verb.
