How to use めしあがる

One sentence for each tense, the way people say it.

  2. Past

    おきゃくさま は もう めしあがりました か。

    Have the guests already eaten?

  3. Te-form

    あたたかい うち に、 どうぞ めしあがって ください。

    Please eat it while it's warm.

  5. Want to

Good to know

  • めしあがる is たべる and のむ said of a guest or an elder: どうぞ めしあがって ください; for yourself, いただく.
  • Nobody wants to or is made to めしあがる, so the want, volitional and passive sentences show it beside another verb.
