  1. Present and future

    けんた は いつか ちち の みせ を つぎます。

    One day Kenta will take over his father's shop.

  2. Past

    あに が いえ の しごと を ついだ。

    My older brother took over the family business.

  3. Te-form

    むすめ が いま、 みせ を ついで いる。

    My daughter is running the shop now.

  4. Potential

    わたし に は この みせ を つげない。

    I can't take over this shop.

  5. Want to

    そふ の ゆめ を つぎたい。

    I want to carry on my grandfather's dream.

  6. Volitional

    ふたり で いっしょ に みせ を つごう。

    Let's take over the shop together.

  7. Conditional

    みせ を つげば、 とうきょう に は もどれない。

    If I take over the shop, I can't go back to Tokyo.

  8. Commands and requests

    むり に みせ を つがないで ください。

    Please don't take over the shop against your will.
