How to use спросить

One sentence for each tense, the way people say it.

  1. Past

    Я спросил продавца, сколько стоит хлеб.

    I asked the shop assistant how much the bread was.

  2. Future

    Завтра я спрошу маму про билеты.

    Tomorrow I'll ask Mum about the tickets.

  3. Conditional

    Я бы спросил Диму, но он спит.

    I'd ask Dima, but he's asleep.

  4. Imperative

    Спроси у бабушки, где соль.

    Ask Grandma where the salt is.

Good to know

  • The person you ask is in the accusative or after у: спросить Диму, спроси у мамы; what you ask about comes after о.
