How to use のりおくれる

One sentence for each tense, the way people say it.

  1. Present and future

    ベン は よく バス に のりおくれます。

    Ben often misses the bus.

  2. Past

    ゆうべ、 しゅうでん に のりおくれた。

    Last night I missed the last train.

  3. Te-form

    ひこうき に のりおくれて、 いちにち むだ に した。

    I missed the plane and lost a whole day.

  4. Potential

    しんかんせん に のりおくれる と、 おなじ ひ に かえれません。

    If you miss the bullet train, you can't get home the same day.

  5. Want to

    のりおくれたくない から、 はやめ に でよう。

    I don't want to miss it, so let's leave early.

  6. Volitional

    のりおくれない よう に、 めざまし を ふたつ かけよう。

    So we don't miss it, let's set two alarms.

  7. Conditional

  • に のりおくれる: しゅうでん に のりおくれた, I missed the last train.
  • Missing a train isn't chosen, so where a form isn't used, the sentence shows のりおくれる beside another verb.
