    My grandmother didn't trust banks.

  4. Future

    Después de esto, nadie se fiará de ella.

    After this, nobody will trust her.

  5. Conditional

    Yo no me fiaría de una oferta tan buena.

    I wouldn't trust such a good offer.

  6. Present subjunctive

    No es que no me fíe, es que quiero verlo.

    It's not that I don't trust you, I want to see it.

  7. Past subjunctive

    Mis padres querían que no me fiara de desconocidos.

    My parents wanted me not to trust strangers.

  8. Imperative

Good to know

  • "Fiarse de alguien" is to trust them: no me fío de él. "Confiar en" means the same.
  • In a bar, "fiar" is to let you pay later; the sign "hoy no se fía, mañana sí" is a classic joke.
