How to use เป็น

One sentence for each tense, the way people say it.

  1. Present

    เป็น อะไร คะ?

    What's wrong?

  2. Future

    ไม่ นอน, จะ เป็น ไข้ นะ ครับ.

    No sleep and you'll get a fever.

  3. Ever and never

    เคย เป็น ไข้ ที่ เมือง ไทย ไหม คะ?

    Have you ever had a fever in Thailand?

  4. Want, must and can

    ผม อยาก เป็น ช่าง เรือ ที่ ดี ครับ.

    I want to be a good boatbuilder.

Good to know

  • เป็น อะไร, "what's wrong", at the pharmacy; เป็น ไข้ is to have a fever, and เป็น น้อง to be the younger one.
