The New Teacher
Monday, April the thirteenth, the first day of the new school year at Ben's school. Mr. Kimura introduces a new teacher, Mike, from Sydney, who calls Ben his senpai. LA HISTORIA
Monday, April the thirteenth. In Japan, the school year starts in April, and at Ben's school Mr. Kimura introduces a new teacher, Mike, from Sydney. He came last week, his Japanese is shaky, and Ms. Aoki asks Ben to show him how things work. Mike starts calling Ben senpai, his senior, which Ben finds embarrassing. Over noodles at lunch, Mike asks about life in Japan and the Japanese exam, and that night Ben tells Yui. Last August, Ben was the new one. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
