Meeting Mrs. Sato
The morning after they arrive, Ben's parents meet Mrs. Sato over breakfast at the Hanaya, and Ben interprets one of the most Japanese conversations there is, thanks for looking after a son. Then Kenta shows them Sensoji, and in the afternoon Ben shows them round his own neighbourhood, where Mrs. Tanaka meets them at last. Say my son and your son, pass on thanks and a gift, ask what's inside, say you've always wanted to do something, and make guests feel at home.

Friday, April third. The morning after they arrive, Ben's parents come down to the little breakfast room of the Hanaya, where Ben once ate his first Japanese breakfast. Mrs. Sato is waiting in her best kimono. She has been looking forward to this for weeks. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
