The Driving Lesson

On a rainy Saturday morning, Emma is the student. Her American licence could only be used in her first year in France, so a driving instructor picks her up in a little white car that isn't automatic. Understand an instructor's orders, put on your seat belt, turn, slow down and brake, get through a roundabout, say "I'm in the middle of...", calm down, and park.

It is Saturday October 3, 2026, a grey, rainy morning. Emma's American driving licence could only be used in her first year in France, so now she has to pass the French one. At nine o'clock, a driving instructor picks her up outside her building in a little white car. It's her first time in a car that isn't automatic. Afterwards, she tells Chloe all about it over coffee.
