  1. Present and future

    バス は なかなか きません ね。

    The bus just isn't coming, is it.

  2. Past

    ともだち が カナダ から あそび に きました。

    A friend came from Canada to visit.

  3. Te-form

    こんど、 うち に あそび に きて ください。

    Please come and visit us sometime.

  4. Potential

    あした の パーティー に こられます か。

    Can you come to tomorrow's party?

  5. Want to

    また にほん に きたい です。

    I want to come to Japan again.

  6. Volitional

    らいねん も いっしょ に ここ に こよう。

    Let's come here together next year too.

  7. Conditional

    けんた が きたら、 はじめましょう。

    When Kenta comes, let's start.

  8. Commands and requests

    あぶない から、 こっち に きなさい。

    It's dangerous, come over here.

  9. Passive and causative

    よる おそく、 ともだち に こられて こまりました。

Good to know

  • Its forms are irregular: きます, きて, こない, こられる, こよう, こい.
  • もって くる is to bring something, つれて くる is to bring someone.
