How to use たく

One sentence for each tense, the way people say it.

  1. Present and future

    うち で は まいあさ ごはん を たきます。

    At home we cook rice every morning.

  2. Past

    ゆうべ ごはん を おおめ に たいた。

    Last night I cooked extra rice.

  3. Te-form

    ごはん を たいて、 おにぎり を つくりました。

    I cooked rice and made rice balls.

  4. Potential

    この なべ で も ごはん が たけます。

    You can cook rice in this pot too.

  5. Want to

    たまに は どなべ で ごはん を たきたい。

    Once in a while I want to cook rice in a clay pot.

  6. Volitional

    かえったら、 すぐ ごはん を たこう。

    When we get home, let's put the rice on right away.

  7. Conditional

    いま たけば、 ろくじ に は たべられます。

    If we put the rice on now, we can eat at six.
