One sentence for each tense, the way people say it.

  1. Present and future

    この みせ は たかい と おもいます。

    I think this shop is expensive.

  2. Past

    もっと さむい と おもいました。

    I thought it would be colder.

  3. Te-form

    この けいかく に ついて、 どう おもって います か。

    What do you think about this plan?

  4. Potential

    かれ が うそ を つく と は おもえません。

    I can't believe he'd lie.

  5. Want to

    じぶん は うん が いい と おもいたい。

    I want to think I'm lucky.

  6. Volitional

    ぜんぶ いい けいけん だ と おもおう。

    Let's think of it all as good experience.

  7. Conditional

    へん だ と おもったら、 すぐ いって ください。

Good to know

  • と おもいます after a plain form softens what you say: あした は あめ だ と おもいます.
  • おもう is what you feel or believe; かんがえる is to think something over.
