How to use заверять

One sentence for each tense, the way people say it.

  1. Present

    Нотариус заверяет перевод за десять минут.

    The notary certifies a translation in ten minutes.

  2. Past

    Раньше копии заверяли прямо в школе.

    Copies used to be certified right at the school.

  3. Future

    Подпись будет заверять нотариус рядом с метро.

    The notary by the metro will be certifying the signature.

  4. Conditional

    Я бы заверяла документы заранее, а не в последний день.

    I'd get documents certified ahead of time, not on the last day.

  5. Imperative

    Заверяй каждую страницу, иначе не примут.

    Certify every page, otherwise they won't accept it.

Good to know

  • Заверять у нотариуса is to have a paper certified by a notary; заверить is once. Заверять кого-то is also to assure someone.
