Good to know

  • 亡くなる is written for a person who passes away, 無くなる for a thing that runs out or goes missing; both are said なくなる.
  • なくなる is softer than しぬ and the one to use about people.
  • Running out is not something you decide, so the potential, want, volitional and imperative sentences show なくなる beside another verb.
