  2. Past

    ゆうべ は ともだち の いえ に とまった。

    Last night I stayed over at a friend's.

  3. Te-form

    いま、 おんせん の ちかく の ホテル に とまって います。

    We're staying at a hotel near the hot springs right now.

  4. Potential

    この ホテル に は、 ペット と いっしょ に とまれます。

    You can stay at this hotel with a pet.

  5. Want to

    いちど、 おしろ の ホテル に とまりたい。

  • とまる (stay) is 泊まる, to spend the night; とまる, to stop, is 止まる: they sound the same.
  • The place you stay takes に: ホテル に とまる; とめる is to put someone up.
