How to use とりおこなう

One sentence for each tense, the way people say it.

  1. Present and future

    けっこんしき は じんじゃ で とりおこないます。

    The wedding ceremony will be held at a shrine.

  2. Past

    そふ の そうしき は、 おてら で とりおこなった。

    We held my grandfather's funeral at a temple.

  3. Te-form

    しき は ふるい しきたり に したがって とりおこなって います。

    The ceremony is held following old customs.

  4. Potential

    あめ でも、 しき は なか で とりおこなえます。

    Even in rain, the ceremony can be held inside.

  5. Want to

    しき は かぞく だけ で しずか に とりおこないたい。

    We want to hold the ceremony quietly, with family only.

  6. Volitional

    しき は きょねん と おなじ よう に とりおこないましょう。

    Let's hold the ceremony the same way as last year.
