The Beach at Kamakura

On his first morning in Kamakura, a surfing teacher called Riku offers Ben a lesson. Say what you can and can't do, offer to do something with "shall I", say you want to learn and ask someone to teach you, cheer someone on, and say you did it.

THE STORY

It's Saturday morning, Ben's first by the sea. He came from Kyoto yesterday, to a small room near the beach at Kamakura. The beach is long, the sand is grey, and the sea is full of surfers. Ben is watching them from the sand when a man with a board under his arm stops beside him. His name is Riku, and he teaches surfing. An hour later, Ben is standing on a board, and that evening he has a dinner invitation. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
