Learn to say tomorrow is your wedding anniversary (jitsu wa, ashita wa, kekkon kinenbi na n desu), that a year went by in a flash (ichinen, atto iu ma datta) and that you've got used to Kyoto (Kyouto ni, narete kita), the keigo of a hospital ward (goshujin wa, ima, yasunde irasshaimasu), and how to ask a friend whether he's sleeping (nemurete ru?). LA HISTORIA

Thursday, the twenty-third of November, twenty twenty-eight, a national holiday. Ten o'clock, the gate of the shrine in Kyoto where Ben and Yui married a year ago today, in the coats from Toronto. Half past twelve, the Yamamotos' table, because Yui's mother knew the date before they did. Four o'clock, the kitchen table in the flat, a phone propped against the teapot, and the Hanaya's front desk on the screen. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
