PART 2 · LESSON 15 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
We Ended Up Finding a Band
Saturday is market day in the town. Grandma Nena sends Daniel and Bia down for cheese, and they come back with a band, a guitar, and very nearly no cheese. Say "we ended up finding" and "I'll learn little by little", ask what someone charges, haggle a little, and talk about country music, instruments and what you used to play.

THE STORY
Saturday, the twenty-second of July, market day in the town at the bottom of the valley. Grandma Nena's own cheese needs weeks to ripen, and after her week of rest there's none ready, so for once she has sent Daniel and Bia down to buy cheese and coffee. In the square, under a fig tree, a man in a straw hat is playing a ten-stringed country guitar, the kind called a viola in Minas, and a small crowd is listening. When he stops, Bia walks straight up to him. An hour later, at the car, Bia finds out what Daniel has bought, and what he hasn't. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
