PART 1 · LESSON 3 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
If Only It Snowed in Rio
Bia's first snow, from the window at four in the morning to a snowball fight in the garden and hot chocolate in Susan's kitchen. Say "if only", use the big endings Brazilians put on words ("a huge cold"), say how cold it is the Brazilian way, and start a war you can't win.

THE STORY
Sunday, December seventeenth. At four in the morning, Bia is at the window of Daniel's old bedroom, watching snow fall for the first time in her life. In the morning, everything is white, the garden, the fence, Tom's car, and Bia goes out in Susan's boots, Susan's coat, Susan's hat and two pairs of Susan's socks. Then a snowman, a snowball, a war, and Susan's hot chocolate in the kitchen. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
